The Alternative Information and Development Centre (AIDC) submitted a written response to the Select and Standing Committees on Finance regarding the fiscal framework and revenue proposals outlined in the March 2025 Budget. Our submission includes comments on the macroeconomic framework, a critique of fiscal anchors, an analysis of the risks associated with privatisation, and an argument against increasing VAT, which we believe is both undesirable and unnecessary. Additionally, we offer suggestions for alternative revenue-raising options. Please read the document below for more details.
