Since 2019, AMCU has been embroiled in a legal battle with Samancor Chrome, the second-largest chrome company in the world. In this case, a whistleblower has alleged that certain directors shifted billions of Rand from the company into overseas tax havens over a number of years. AIDC Tax Justice Coordinator, Jaco Oelofsen has written a case study on the Samancor case and how it demonstrates the relationship between illicit financial flows and inequality, published in the second volume of the Namibian Journal of Social Justice.
